I had a great time working with the idea of bright colors and bold patterns. It looks so rich and kind of retro. The trees are in the style of Kandinsky's Concentric Circle Study.
Amanda is my winner from the facebook giveaway on Prego & Mommy Chat. She wanted bold colors, bold patterns, her favorite sports teams, and the quote "I Love you in the morning, and in the afternoon. I love you in the evening, and underneath the moon."

Merissa's belly was a gift for her from her sister in law. She had very a very specific request for her design. I love it when someone is specific. She wanted green camouflage, deer (a doe, buck, and fawn) in a golden hay field, with a line of pine trees and a setting sun. I think I covered everything! She even sent me a picture of it hanging in her baby's room. I am super pleased with the way this turned out. I even had to re do the deer once because they weren't big enough, a super easy fix. I also got to work with another local photographer! Melissa Smith of Work of Art Photography and Design took my finished product picture! She does maternity, newborn, family, and business photography. http://workofartphotography.wordpress.com/ I had a great time with Kim's second belly. Kim's mom won one and the other was all her. Her 1st little guy was a sea turtle, or at least his bedroom has turtles in it. i wanted to make it colorful but not to kiddish because I wanted it to grow with him. Kim decided on the sunset on the outside and I am really she did. It is such a great contrast. In an effort to do more advertising I made a sample for Bee Mine Too boutique in Richland, MI. It’s me at 39 weeks (the day before I was induced in to labor). I did the outside with traditional sailor tattoos. I love tattoos, and recently I have really gotten in to the Sailor Jerry style tattoo. They remind me of my husband. The pin up is the one on my husband's arm. Since he is still deployed at this time I did a sunset with a silhouette of his ship heading out across the Atlantic. You can see this painting in person at the Bee Mine Too Children’s Consignment 8080 N 32nd Street Richland, MI 49083 Like Bee Mine Too's Facebook Page and visit her website www.beeminetoo.com Discussing doing this painting wasn't hard. I had Sabrina over early in the spring so I could pass on some of my pumpkin’s clothing. She took one look at my painting and said she wanted one for her shower. Jump to about 4 months later and here I am working on her painting. She wanted a sunset but couldn't decide if dolphins were the way to go or a tree like mine. Also she wanted me to extend the scene to outside the belly. I decided to go with Mangrove Trees. My brother is currently in Hawaii and had taken pictures of them. Trees that grow in water, how perfect! I taped off the side that is not the silhouette so her form really pops from the canvas. I chose the night on the other side to make the sunset really pop and to almost give in a yin yang effect. 3 trees equal Mommy, Daddy and baby. |
