Lyndsay's belly has been my most challenging painting yet. I worried over this one SO much! I know nothing about racing, nothing. I am not sure that I know much more now other than I could not get cars to work for me. I rushed to get this done in time for Christmas, luckily it arrived on Christmas Eve. I couldn’t help taking the picture by my tree. I really like how it turned out. It’s a little more abstract than I originally imagined. C’est la vie.

When Chelsea came to my house to be traced, I asked what she would like to see on her belly. She said it was up to me. That is really tough to decide and hope that a person likes it. I had to rework it so many times. I am really happy with this one. Since she is a fellow Navy wife and from my hometown I finally decided to go Navy with a little bit of Michigan thrown in. Her husband is attached to the USS Eisenhower, which is an aircraft carrier. The beach was a must, in the Navy you are always near water but growing up in Michigan, a lake was never too far away. The light house itself is inspired by one I frequented in South Haven, MI. |
