I was so excited when Britiany contacted me about doing another belly for her! I am really honored to have my first repeat customer. We took a long time to get this idea just right. I traced her belly in person just 3 days before her sweet little boy was born. The outside is a storm since that night after he was born we had a beast of a summer storm. The splatters are the same technique that I used for her daughter's. On the inside is the beautiful summer day like the day he was born on. The tree is a Celtic knot with the roots being a mother's knot, father's knot and family knot. I have always wanted to do a Celtic knot painting so I was SUPER excited when her husband requested that I do that.

Laura is a midwife I met at peace.love.swap in Virginia Beach. I offered to make a painting for her office for advertisement. Instead of doing another belly of myself I made one for her. She originally wanted something subtle in blues and cream like her office. After some discussion she also wanted white tulips, a cross on a hill, a seafoam green sky and the phrase be strong in the lord on it. I had tons of fun researching and figuring out what and where to put things. I added the little butterfly to put in a little pop of color. Leigh's Belly was purchased for her by her wonderful sister Debi. Thankfully Debi is a friend of mine because Leigh had her baby and sent me her belly picture in the middle of my husband returning from deployment and the whirlwind that goes along with it. That was September. Now her belly is the last for 2012. Leigh loves Gerber daisies. She wanted the predominant colors to be pink, green, and brown. I did pink one like the ones in her wedding bouquet. I asked her what they did for fun and she replied with taking walks, going for ice cream, playing with and walking their yorkie, and going to car shows or rides in their '68 Ford Torino. Debi Said she liked little folksy owls and the brown bird is a pattern from a pillow in her little girl's room. the bubbles are made to look like patches sewn on to the canvas and cover all of her favorite things. I learned a new technique for painting flowers during this time... I really hope she loves this! |
