I had a great time working with the idea of bright colors and bold patterns. It looks so rich and kind of retro. The trees are in the style of Kandinsky's Concentric Circle Study.
Amanda is my winner from the facebook giveaway on Prego & Mommy Chat. She wanted bold colors, bold patterns, her favorite sports teams, and the quote "I Love you in the morning, and in the afternoon. I love you in the evening, and underneath the moon."

My friend Melissa of Work of Art Photography and Design commissioned this beautiful painting for her dear friend Natalie. Making sure she took a silhouette picture for me, we conspired to get the perfect painting. She wanted blue for a boy, green and jungle for the nursery, crowns for the little prince, golf balls for dad, and a bible verse for the rainbow baby. I am truly honored to be a part of this gift. Laura is a midwife I met at peace.love.swap in Virginia Beach. I offered to make a painting for her office for advertisement. Instead of doing another belly of myself I made one for her. She originally wanted something subtle in blues and cream like her office. After some discussion she also wanted white tulips, a cross on a hill, a seafoam green sky and the phrase be strong in the lord on it. I had tons of fun researching and figuring out what and where to put things. I added the little butterfly to put in a little pop of color. Jamie's belly was bought as a gift to her. She wasn't aware she was getting it. Her friend Samantha decided on the theme which was Valentines, hearts, and her 5 children. Jamie's 5th was due on Valentine's day. Inside the belly I did a colorful heart tree on bubbly snow. On the outside was a watercolor like rainbow gradation with black intertwining hearts that I did in Sharpie marker. I wrote each of her kids names in on the branches with the heart branches representing the parents and their love for them. I love how colorful it turned out. Lyndsay's belly has been my most challenging painting yet. I worried over this one SO much! I know nothing about racing, nothing. I am not sure that I know much more now other than I could not get cars to work for me. I rushed to get this done in time for Christmas, luckily it arrived on Christmas Eve. I couldn’t help taking the picture by my tree. I really like how it turned out. It’s a little more abstract than I originally imagined. C’est la vie. Britiany's bump was inspired by the month she gave birth, December! She wanted something to remind her that she gave birth on the 1st day it snowed last year. When I asked her about the color she wanted I decided to make it girly for her little snow flake. Her room has pink and purple. Britiany said she really like the high contrast paintings I do, so I did a blue gradation to the waning moon that was present on the day Little Snow Flake was born. I had a great time splatter painting the background in my shower as well as researching different designs for snowflakes. This is certainly one of my favorites so far. |
