Not too long ago we were living in a tiny apartment in Illinois. I was working for Walgreens and my husband was completing his first year in the Navy. I found out I was pregnant in March, we knew we were having a boy by May. I am an artist, and I wanted to have something beautiful to show my son how happy I was to be pregnant with him. So I made a silhouette inspired from Art Bellies but I went a step further. It was one of the few days I felt really good during my whole pregnancy. So that day we had our maternity photo shoot, I started my silhouette, made a plaster cast of my belly and decorated my belly for Halloween. Yeah my actual belly. Its a picture and a moment I will always treasure. I did not tell my husband what I was doing until I yell for him to help me do the mouth on my pumpkin. I couldn't reach the underside of my belly. It was a good laugh. Then I asked him to help me trace my belly on to the canvas I purchased earlier that week. I decided to do a leafless tree in a sun set. It was fall and all of my baby things were becoming fall themed since he was due the first week of November. Little did I know making these things would lead to New Life in Color as I know it today.
